Golden Glory: India Shines with 10 Gold Medals at Asian Para Games 2023

In an outstanding display of athletic prowess, India has been making waves at the Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. As of October 24, India finds itself in fifth place in the medals tally with a total of 35 medals. These include an impressive haul of 10 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals.

Among the gold medalists, Deepthi Jeevanji’s remarkable achievement in the women’s 400m-T20 stands out. She not only clinched the gold but also set a new Asian Para record and Games record with a staggering timing of 56.69 seconds. Her stellar performance earned her a top podium finish, leaving Thailand’s Orawan Kaising with a personal best time of 59.00 seconds and a silver medal.

The men’s 400m-T64 final saw Ajay Kumar clinch the silver with a personal best timing of 54.85 seconds. In the Men’s 5000m-T13 category, Sharath Makanahalli Shankarappa secured a gold medal, further boosting India’s gold medal tally to nine.

However, it was India’s Neeraj Yadav, Yogesh Kathuniya, and Muthuraja who left an indelible mark by sweeping the podium in the men’s discus throw-F54/55/56 event, clinching all three medals and adding to India’s gold count.

Earlier in the day, Manish Kaurav contributed to India’s success by securing a bronze medal in the Canoe Men’s KL3 Final event. Prachi Yadav added to India’s gold medal tally by winning the Canoe women’s KL2 event after securing a silver medal in the women’s VL2 final.

As the Asian Para Games 2023 unfolds, India’s contingent continues to shine, making the nation proud with a current standing of 35 medals. With 10 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals, India is showcasing its exceptional talent and determination on the international stage.
