Chopra’s Vision: Global Glory for Indian Athletics!
Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion in athletics and India’s trailblazing Olympic gold medalist, continues to captivate audiences with stellar performances. This year, Chopra not only secured his title at the Asian Games but also emerged victorious at prestigious events such as the Wanda Diamond League in Doha and Lausanne.
With a season’s best of 88.88m in Hangzhou, Chopra’s field dominance was palpable, culminating in a triumphant Indian 1-2 finish. While he hasn’t breached the 90m mark yet, Chopra exudes confidence that the moment is on the horizon.
In an exclusive interview with The Indian Express, Chopra delves into the nuanced understanding of a ‘good throw,’ honed through 12 years of relentless training. He shares, “If you train for something this long and are constantly thinking about it, you naturally develop that understanding.”
Addressing the controversial first throw at the Asian Games, Chopra clarifies, “It was 88m-plus for sure, not 90m.”
Beyond the accolades, Chopra passionately expresses his longing to compete in a major international event on home soil. Having not graced Indian grounds since clinching Olympic Gold, he articulates, “I really want India to host a big international event, and the federation is also making efforts. Everyone is eager to witness India hosting a prestigious event. I ardently hope for it in the future, eagerly anticipating the day when I can compete against global athletes on Indian turf, in front of passionate fans.”
