Revolutionizing Grassroots Football – A Gateway to ISL and National Glory

Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) is set to revolutionize grassroots football in Kashmir, bringing forth a thrilling chapter for young talents. With tournaments spanning three age categories—U-15 and U-21 for boys, and U-19 for girls—RFYS has joined forces with the Department of Higher Education (UT of Jammu & Kashmir) and the University of Kashmir. The Annual Inter College Boys tournament, featuring 29 teams, is underway from November 13-30, 2023, in Srinagar. Simultaneously, the RFYS U-15 Boys and U-19 Girls competitions include 32 and 16 teams, showcasing the rich footballing talent in the region.

Former India international Mehrajuddin Wadoo, a Kashmiri himself, applauds the initiative, stating, “There is a lot of potential amongst players in Kashmir, and hopefully, they can go on to play in the Indian Super League (ISL) and the national team.” He emphasizes the importance of exposure and playing time for emerging talents, underscoring RFYS as a crucial platform for showcasing skills.

Danish Farooq, a midfielder for Kerala Blasters FC and a Srinagar native, echoes the sentiment, stating, “The RFYS initiative is going to be very important for all the boys and girls who will participate in the competition.” He expresses hope for the growth of football in Kashmir, emphasizing the coordination of stakeholders and the potential emergence of players representing ISL clubs.

As RFYS opens doors for Kashmiri footballers, the region anticipates a surge in talent and a pathway for players to make their mark on the national and international stage. The tournaments not only promise exciting matches but also aim to contribute to the broader development of football in Kashmir. #RFYSFootball #KashmirFootball #GrassrootsRevolution https://www.sportiwe.com/
