“High-Octane Training in Argentina Paves Way for Junior World Cup Success”
In a bold move to dominate the upcoming World Cup in Chile, the Indian junior women’s hockey team is heading to Argentina for an intensive training and practice match schedule.
This strategic decision is geared towards acclimatizing the team to the challenging conditions they will face in Santiago. Head coach Tushar Khandker, brimming with confidence, shared this exciting development, underscoring the paramount importance of setting the tempo for the Junior World Cup.
Scheduled from November 29 to December 10, the tournament promises fierce competition. Placed in Pool C, India will face off against formidable opponents Germany, Belgium, and Canada. Their campaign kicks off against Canada on November 29, followed by intense clashes against Germany and Belgium on November 30 and December 2, respectively.
Across the global hockey community, all eyes are on the battles in other pools. The Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, and Chile form Pool A, while Argentina, Spain, Zimbabwe, and Korea form Pool B. In Pool D, England, the USA, New Zealand, and Japan will fiercely compete for coveted spots in the quarterfinals.
Coach Khandker expressed admiration for the rigorous selection process, acknowledging the wealth of prodigious talent at his disposal. The final squad, meticulously curated, represents the absolute pinnacle of Indian junior women’s hockey, reflecting months of unwavering dedication and effort. The selected squad boasts a formidable lineup, featuring the dynamic goalkeeping duo of Khushboo and Madhuri Kindo, unyielding defenders Neelam, Preeti, Jyoti Singh, and Ropni Kumari, and midfield maestros Mahima Tete, Manju Chorsiya, Jyoti Chhatri, Hina Bano, Sujata Kujur, and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal. Upfront, the team showcases the explosive prowess of Sakshi Rana, Mumtaz Khan, Annu, Deepika Soreng, Dipi Monika Toppo, and Sunelita Toppo.
