In a dazzling display of talent and tenacity, India’s para-athletes lit up the second day of the Hangzhou Asian Para Games.
Canoeist Prachi Yadav and quartermiler Deepthi Jeevanji stole the spotlight, claiming gold medals and propelling India’s medal tally to an impressive 24.Prachi, already a silver medalist in the canoe VL2 category, showcased her mettle once again, securing gold in the KL2 event.
Meanwhile, Deepthi Jeevanji blazed a trail of glory, not only clinching gold but setting a new Games and Asian record in the women’s T20 category 400m race, with a jaw-dropping time of 56.69 seconds.
The duo’s stellar performances were complemented by silver medals from Ajay Kumar (men’s T64 400m) and Simran Sharma (women’s T12 100m), as well as bronze medals from Manish Kaurav (men’s KL3 canoe), Gajendra Singh (men’s VL2 canoe), and Ekta Bhayan (women’s F32/51 club throw).
With 8 gold, 8 silver, and 8 bronze medals, India’s dominance at the games is nothing short of awe-inspiring. The inaugural day was equally spectacular, with India clinching a remarkable 17 medals, including six gold.
Avani Lekhara led the charge with a gold in the women’s R2 10m air rifle standing SH1 event, joined by fellow champions Pranav Soorma, Shailesh Kumar, Nishad Kumar, Ankur Dhama, and Praveen Kumar.
