“Mythic Sparks Ignite a Journey to Excellence”
As the Asian Games champions make their triumphant return to Delhi’s airport, one figure stands out amidst the roaring applause: Abhishek Verma, the archery virtuoso, basking in the thunderous ovation of a nation.
“Feeling the pulse of an entire nation is an electrifying honor,” Verma exclaims, the silver-tongued maestro of the men’s compound team.

Verma’s world is set ablaze by the epics – the Mahabharata and the Ramayana – coursing through his veins with every pull of the bowstring. Since 2002, he has been guided by the sagas of Guru Drona, Arjun, and Eklavya, forging an inferno of determination that now burns brighter than the sun.

“Arjun from the Mahabharata has always been my guiding star,” Verma confides. “We grow up yearning to emulate the valor of such legendary warriors, and I dared to turn that yearning into reality.”
At the pinnacle of the 2022 Asian Games, Verma’s focus was a laser, his sights locked on nothing short of perfection. “I envisioned the ‘machli ki aankh’ – the eye of the fish, a dream etched in my heart since the 2014 Games. And in the years ahead, I’ll only sharpen my aim for the bullseye.”

Yet, Verma’s saga extends far beyond the archery range; by day, he is the Assistant Commissioner at the Delhi Income Tax Department. But rest is a stranger to this champion, his pursuit of excellence boundless. “These celebrations are but a fleeting tempest. I’m already primed for the imminent Asian Championship and the European Cup, just weeks away.

The National Games loom large on the horizon. Be it a national brawl or a global spectacle, my preparation remains unyielding. Each arrow I release carries the same fire, each victory a testament to our nation’s unquenchable spirit.”

Abhishek Verma’s odyssey is a crucible of ancient valor fused with modern mastery, a testament to the boundless potential within us all. As he gears up for new battles, his bowstrings resonate with purpose, echoing the nation’s resolve to etch its name in the chronicles of history.
