Hesson and Bangar are said to have great camaraderie with RCB icon Virat Kohli, and had been in their respective positions for five years.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are actively seeking new members for their backroom staff as they have decided not to retain Director of Cricket Mike Hesson and coach Sanjay Bangar for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
According to sources, the franchise, which is yet to secure an IPL title, is in the process of scouting fresh coaches. It remains unclear whether the current bowling coach, Adam Griffith, will be retained.
Hesson and Bangar had a strong rapport with RCB’s iconic player Virat Kohli and had served in their respective roles for a five-year period. However, the franchise is now determined to bring in someone who can introduce new ideas and strategies as they strive for their first IPL championship. Disappointingly, RCB failed to qualify for the playoffs in the 2023 edition, leaving their dedicated fanbase disheartened.
It is uncertain whether RCB will opt for a foreign head coach or select an Indian candidate to lead the team.
Meanwhile, other IPL teams have already begun shaping their coaching setups. Lucknow Super Giants recently appointed former Australian opener and coach Justin Langer as their head coach, replacing Andy Flower.
Flower, a former captain of Zimbabwe, is reportedly in discussions with other franchises and may continue his association with the IPL as the head coach of a different team.
